"CHEW KEE" Char Hor Fun in Carnarvon Street Penang

As you come in from Chulia Street and turning into Carnarvon Street ( Lebuh Carnarvon) , there is an elderly couple manning a stall beside the corner of a coffee shop. This stall beside the coffee shop is selling Char Hor Fun, Ee Foo Mee, Hokkien Char & Fish Head Bee Hoon for almost about 25 years.
There is a signage showing the name of the Char Hor Fun stall as " CHEW KEE " and this stall, I must say still serve the original smoky flavour & the best Char Hor Fun in Penang.

There are many tables set up beside the stall on this busy road junction and a few steps further up is a stall selling fruit juice and drinks and with many tables set up beside it .

At night along this busy Chulia Street , there are many hawkers stalls and it is usually full of people patronising these outlet. There is curry mee , wantan mee, koay teow thng, char koay teow and also another char hor fun stall alongside the small alley. During the day time, this place is with many stall set up selling hardwares.

The price of a normal small plate of Char Hor Fun is RM4.50 and with additional of fried Garoupa fish meat is RM10. If you love original & traditional type of Char Hor Fun with the smoky flavour and thick gravy soup sauce served with prawns, liver, meat and fresh fish slice , head to " CHEW KEE " stall. You will love it...yummie !!!

Hey...Thanks for posting. By the way, they are my parents and has asked me to check it out for them "someone interview them"

However, I would like to inform you that your pricing is wrong. The small plate Char Hor Fun is RM5 and the Fish Head noodle is RM7.50 while the Fish Meat noodle is RM8. The RM 10 is a medium size (I guessed)

My parents stall closes usually on Wed & Thurs, sometimes due to short-of-staff or insufficient stocks, they are forced to rest. Therefore, it is best to call before going at 04-2623237. Mom is famous on "quick to answer" the call provided they work.

Nowadays smoky flavoured char hor fun is hard to come by. This particular stall still prepare authentic char hor fun. The ingredients used to prepare the dish such as fish, prawns etc are fresh. I simply love the fish head bee hoon soup. The stall has been there for ages and in case anyone misses it, just pop in to try out. Bon appetit!

This is the BEST traditional fried hor fun that u will hardly find nowadays. I enjoy all the food there including the sound of the clanging wok + the way he deal with the fire on the noodle. Worth trying . Bon Appetit =D. Jian Heng
