Mee Mamak or Indian Mee of Penang

Along Jalan Air Hitam, you can find many good Indian Mee or Mee Mamak stalls and there are a few which you must try it out. Different stalls have their own secret ingredients and their own type of sauce preparations and each have their own distinct flavour to suit each one of us.

There is one push cart stall in front of a corner coffee shop in Jalan Satu and another one also on the corner coffee shop in Jalan Dua. Further up Jalan Air Hitam, there is a popular Mee Mamak stall operating from a coffee shop and it is along Jalan 4.

There are two versions of Indian Mee or Mee mamak to order and it is either the " Rebus " or " Goreng " style.
What is added into the Mee Mamak is potato, tau kua ( hard type bean curd) , fritters and sotong. You can either opt for with egg or without egg. This is Rahim Mee Mamak push cart stall along Jalan Air Hitam and operate in front of Success Coffee Shop. This coffee shop is beside Maybank and it is along the busy Jalan Air Hitam on the way to the round about heading either to Paya Terubong or to Penang Hill station.
The price is very reasonable at RM2.20 ( without egg) and RM2.70 (with egg) and it is a simple type Mee Mamak with potato, tau kua & fritters and very delicious. No sotong as the original Mee Mamak is without this ingredients and of course with the condiments of own fried onion is a must to add to the aromatic flavour of the dish.
